Crazy as it sounds, it’s been 4 years since I have posted! 2015 was a busy year for me. We sold our home, lost Kirt’s dad, moved to a rental home while we had our home built. Then in 2016, we moved again to our new home and then had to start on my studio in the basement. So, it was 2017 before I really got back into quilting ( I did do limited quilting in my temporary home). And by then, blogging was on the back burner. I’m trying to figure out how to do this again. I really want it for my personal quilting history.<br />

It’s been 4 years since I have done any blogging at all and would like to get back into it, if only for my personal history. So this is a big test to see if I even remember how to do this!!<br />

And a picture of my latest quilt top just to have something to look at! 😃It was the Leader and Ender project from <a href="http://www.quiltville.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Bonnie Hunter</a> in 1017. I worked on this while working on other quilts. </div>

We all chose a block to do and make enough for a row. We then made our own row, passed the row and fabric on to the next person. Well, the person ahead of me was doing awesome blocks! So much so, that by the time she got close to the end, she dropped out! I was bummed. I asked her if I could send her fabric and if she would do my row when she felt back up to it. She agreed. <br /><br /><center><a href='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/show_photo.php?p=14/02/13/1652.jpg'><img src='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/photos/14/02/13/s_1652.jpg' border='0' width='210' height='281' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Well, at a quilt retreat a few weeks ago, a vote was taken and all agreed that 15 years was long enough to wait for her row! LOL. So I took the rows I had and finished the quilt. This tulip fabric was my inspiration for my quilt. I thought I saved enough for borders, but it must be in a very,very safe place! So it went on the back along with the rest of the fabrics. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><center><a href='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/show_photo.php?p=14/02/13/1653.jpg'><img src='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/photos/14/02/13/s_1653.jpg' border='0' width='210' height='281' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br /><br />I finished quilting it and got the binding on it. It's now ready to hug some little girl!<br /><br />The back....<br /><br /><br /><br /><center><a href='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/show_photo.php?p=14/02/13/1654.jpg'><img src='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/photos/14/02/13/s_1654.jpg' border='0' width='210' height='281' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br /><br />Back to the UFO pile. It just doesn't seem to end! LOL<br /><br />Karen<br />Passionate Quilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15280625610653416523noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21252407.post-43286654919647104362013-08-21T20:37:00.000-05:002013-08-21T20:37:58.891-05:00A long overdue finish!I hate to admit how old this project is! I believe I started it around 2002. It took a while to hand piece all the hexagons. Then it took a while to do the Irish chain, it's 1" finished squares. And then it took a LONG time to figure out how to finish it. I decided to add a border that had graduating sizes of the hexie flowers. <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qaYJF0boUNc/UhVmsNcHsqI/AAAAAAAADqQ/TwF3DxsXe_M/s1600/GIC+front.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qaYJF0boUNc/UhVmsNcHsqI/AAAAAAAADqQ/TwF3DxsXe_M/s640/GIC+front.JPG" width="480" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Grandma's Irish Chain</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Since this is the year for my UFO finishes, it was time to get off the indecisive train and get going!<br />
<div>
After it was done, I decided to make a HUMUNGOUS hexie flower for the back and threw in the last little bits of the chain. Plus it kind of makes it a bit modern on the back, you think?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-87kH7BnqKDQ/UhVmsN7BmPI/AAAAAAAADqI/8kfZljYv57A/s1600/GIC+back.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-87kH7BnqKDQ/UhVmsN7BmPI/AAAAAAAADqI/8kfZljYv57A/s640/GIC+back.JPG" width="480" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Grandma's Irish Chain Back<br />

<br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />Biggest decision? How to quilt it? I really wanted it hand quilted and now was pushing the deadline for my Quilt Show. I took a gamble and wrote my Amish friend who has hand quilted quilts for me for over 20 years now. I asked her if there were any barn raisings or anything going on that a group would need a quilt to work on. (she has done other quilts of mine at barn raisings). She said to bring it over and they would work it in. I did and they did. They took it to their 'hen party' (her words...it's their version of an all day Sew In. She says they mostly eat and chat and sometimes sew!) and then worked on it at home and got it done in 3 weeks! And did a great job! Thanks Mary, Edna and friends.<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-reT5di7_ITk/UhVmsUgHh8I/AAAAAAAADqU/YaxqJ-yKb4s/s1600/GIC+close.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-reT5di7_ITk/UhVmsUgHh8I/AAAAAAAADqU/YaxqJ-yKb4s/s640/GIC+close.JPG" width="480" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Grandma's Irish Chain close up</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />See my little addition? I so admire all those Japanese women that make those itty, bitty, tiny hexies for their WHOLE quilt! I wanted to make one just to see if I could. Wow, I can't imagine doing a whole quilt out of them! The side measures 1/4". And this is my one...stuck in the corner. Just to say I did it! <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And now back to do last minute things for my Quilt Show. I have 115+ quilts so far, just waiting to hear from a few others. It's this Saturday and it's supposed to be gorgeous. Thank you God!<br /><div>
<br /><br /><div>

This was a class sample for a class last year and has been hanging on the wall. I love this quilt and thought it was a good time to get it down and quilted.<br />

<br />
Back in the day that I was hoarding fabric, I hated using quilt shop quality fabric for the backing, opting instead for lesser expensive fabric from JoAnn's or something. I didn't like using up all the leftover fabric thinking it could go into another quilt! Well, a friend told me that she would rather use all the fabric leftover on the back so she could buy all new for her next quilts. Hmmm, good idea! So I have been trying, where possible to incorporate the leftover fabric into the backings.<br />
<br />
I looked high and low for the leftover scraps on this quilt, no where to be found. Surely I had to have something leftover. I finally gave up and used the 1/2 yard that I could find and put back into stash and figured out the best way to use all of it, mixed with Kona Snow.<br />

<br />The pattern is Slide Show from Terry Atkinson of <a href="http://www.atkinsondesigns.com/" target="_blank">Atkinson Designs</a>. Great instructions, as usual. Terry's patterns are among my favorite patterns for her simple, clear patterns and so easy to understand. And NO mistakes. A big pet peeve of mine. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The fabric was from the OZ by Sanae for Moda Fabrics. Unfortunately it's no longer available as my hubby got me a FQ bundle a few years ago. It didn't come with any yardage and it took a bit of digging to find any yardage to match for borders. Note to self: either use the fabric quickly OR get yardage with bundles! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<div>
<br />I love this quilt, although a bit tedious at times. A great one to do while among friends! You can gab and sew and you'll get done before you know it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Oh, and remember that I couldn't find any scraps leftover from this project? Guess what I found, oh...about 30 minutes AFTER I finished the last of the binding! Go figure!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Now, what to do with all this?<br />
<br />

I just run out of time to get them posted here! The trouble is that I am taking most of my photos with my iPhone, and they take HUGE pictures (file size) and I have to import them into another place to resize them to make them work on the web, or you would be half the day downloading them. Well, maybe not half the day, but more than you would like!<br />
<br />
So, here is Pink Pinwheels. I taught this as a class and we used the <a href="http://www.quiltsmart.com/" target="_blank">QuiltSmart </a>fusibles (this one was called Black Eyed Susans--but my pink made them look more like pinwheels) to make the pinwheels. Awesome way to do this block. But I set it aside..ahem...4 years ago!! Because I thought I would want to do a special border on it and couldn't decide. So into the thinking bin it went and left it there.<br />
<br />

So, I sketched out a border design that I was sure would be awesome. Made the paper pieced patterns to make it easy on myself. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Made the first piece of the border (the bottom would have been a mirror image) and </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
DID. NOT. LIKE. IT. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I just love the thought of it, but it was not working for me on this quilt. Sheesh, back to square one. I hauled out all sorts of fabrics. Pinks, blacks, white on black, black on white and the only one that fit was a pink one that had flowers that sort of looked like the pinwheels. </div>

I tried adding a small little border in between the top and bigger border. Nope. Didn't work either. So after all that, I ended up with a plain border out of one fabric! And it waited 4 years! Yowsa! I need to get better on that one! LOL</div>

I lucked out and had a piece of fabric large enough for the back. All that figuring on the front wore my brain out for the week and I relished the thought of doing a plain back. I know, not my style. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Back to quilting....</div>

And it feels so good! I love to travel, but I think I overdid it last year. Oh it was fun...but I sure paid the price!<br />
<br />
My bi-annual quilt show is this year and I don't have very many quilts to enter in my own show! I went through my UFO's....and I had a LOT more than I thought I did! YIKES! I vowed to myself that I would make a valiant effort to get ONE quilt done per week, sometimes two! Oh yeah. Sounded good at first, but things are starting to slow down a bit as the UFO's now are needing more than borders and backings! And my list of flimsies (quilt tops) is dwindling as I'm getting those done as well. But I will give it my best shot.<br />
<br />
Here are a few that I have worked on in the last few weeks. I will get all of them posted eventually.<br />
<br />
<br />
This little wallhanging has been ready and basted and all it needed was quilted! Sheesh! I made the Figgy Pudding 3D quilt a few years ago and loved doing the trees. So I did just 3, with negative images. I just love the look and will be perfect in my great room next Christmas<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AZT0iFY-8n8/UUz3ep_5a7I/AAAAAAAADfw/PPwcXi_xkW0/s1600/3D+b:w+trees.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="307" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AZT0iFY-8n8/UUz3ep_5a7I/AAAAAAAADfw/PPwcXi_xkW0/s400/3D+b:w+trees.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">3D Black and White trees<br /><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Another little wallhanging that has been patient as well. I made a Garden Gate Trellis quilt for my MIL several years ago. Well, I had to fussy cut the fabric to get the desired flowers and left my fabric looking like swiss cheese! I cut it up into little squares and decided to teach a watercolor class using those leftover pieces. I got it done in time for her birthday this past March. She wasn't at home when I dropped it off with the other gifts for her, but she never mentioned this one. Hmmm. Wonder if my family is tired of getting 'quilty' gifts from me? I did get her some other things as well. Oh well, I enjoyed making it for her. :)<br />
<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Watercolor Flower Basket</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I designed this ( I was inspired by my friends quilt) for my last quilt retreat in Pawleys. I recently re-did one of our guest rooms in gray, yellow and pink and thought it would be a perfect wallhanging. It's about 42" square.<br />

I quilted and put on the binding on this Buggy Barn's Crazy Hearts pattern. It's only been waiting maybe 3 years! I meandered around the hearts, adding a few 'love', 'hugs' and 'kisses' sneak in. I did pebbles in the outer heart and echo quilted in the inner heart. <br />
And it's done! I looked back and I started this back in 2009! It means she is 3 years old already. I admit, it's been hanging on my design wall for over a year. It just took a little incentive to light a fire under my rear end to get it done. I was asked to have a Quilt Exhibition in the University's Art Gallery this summer and I really wanted this one it the exhibit, so I busted a gut, developed tendonitis, starved my husband and a colony of dust bunnies moved in, but I got it done. About 12 hours before I had to hang it in the exhibit! LOL<br />
<br />
This is from <a href="http://www.judymartin.com/Viewer-Photos.cfm" target="_blank">Judy Martin's</a> The Creative Pattern Book, but I admit that I recreated it in EQ7, to color it like I wanted and I pieced it a little differently than in the book. But I fell in love with this pattern when it was all the rage, oh....like 3 years ago! I used leftover fabrics from another quilt I made for my hubby. He loves these colors. A little bland for me, but I admit I do like this quilt. If you notice, I added little sparks of burgundy here and there. I just could not do a quilt without at least a little color!<br />
<br />
I'll be posting my progress on this quilt soon.<br />

I gotta quit doing that! This is my finish for April. We are leaving mid-May for a trip, so I better get hustling or I'll never get May's done.<br />
<br />
My Flimsy closet ran out of hangers and I vowed to not make more quilts until all the hangars were empty. Can I do it? Hmm, not sure, but am trying.<br />
<br />
This is a class sample I made a few years ago, but never quilted. It's Winning Hands (from Eleanor Burn's book of same name), and I made it in our Buckeye colors! Actually a student did one years ago and I always liked it, so I made one for me. And now it's going to go to a good friend who helped me out on a project.<br />

No, not me. I have 6 grandkids already! A friend is having her first grand baby soon and has waited SO long for this to happen. She was beginning to think she would never get the chance. A group I am in (a non quilting group) have what they call 'Grandma Showers' when one of us becomes a Grandma for the first time. My friend was in this group for 25+ years and dropped out a few years ago, so won't get a shower. :( But a few of us decided to surprise her anyway. I have made quilts for all my other friends, so made one for her too.<br />
<br />
I have made several of these over the years, and had one bag of blocks already done. I have collected prints over the years that would work with this quilt. My own grandkids have theirs, so this bag of blocks was just sitting in a bin. <br />

There is a pattern out there like this, but it make a big quilt, I thought I would rather have it be wall hanging size. I just sewed jelly roll strips together, adding a wide "ribbon" 1/3 of the way over. Then I cut off the top third of the strips and added another 'ribbon' of fabric Added the bow...wishing now the tails were a bit longer. :( I had a party and had everyone sign good bye wishes to her. I quilted it with various size swirls. And now it's on it's way.</div>

Actually, this is later than normal as I decided to take January and part of February off and head south...where it has been deliciously warm! I love it! Sure makes it more enjoyable to sit and sew, looking out at bright sunshine and taking the afternoon walk to stretch the legs and back. Especially when I have 11 quilts (ok--some are just blocks) to make!<br />
<br />
Here is what I've been working on...<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Ta da! <u><a href="http://www.atkinsondesigns.com/" target="_blank">Slide Show</a></u> (a pattern by Atkinson Designs). A scrappy border just wasn't going to look right, so a quick internet search yielded <i><b>just enough</b></i> fabric for a border and some for the binding. <br /></div>
Well, they will be this year! I joined the group "<a href="http://sewitsfinished.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Sew It's Finished</a>" in hopes that publicly admitting my need for accountability for getting UFO's done will work. :) And so here they are:<br />
<br />
1. Be Attitudes<br />
2. Pop Star<br />
3. Dresden Plate<br />
4. Folk Art Christmas Stars<br />
5. JOY's Parting Gift<br />
6. Shakespeare in the Park<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Shakespeare in the Park Blocks</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
7. Red & Black Row by Row<br />
8. French Lone Star<br />
9. Pink & Black Pinwheel<br />
10. Folk Art 16 patch<br />
11. Nana's Garden<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Nana's Garden block</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
12. Diamond Scrap Star<br />
<br />
And so there they are--the UFO's I'd like to finish this year. Some are 8+ years in the aging barrel and others were started last year. And I have plenty more, but I chose these to be done first. I also have flimsies to do as well, and would like to get 12 done of those. But it's an ongoing project and wonder if I will EVER be caught up there.Passionate Quilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15280625610653416523noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21252407.post-7953145709539067302012-01-15T22:43:00.001-05:002012-01-15T22:43:02.922-05:00Project 365- Week 2<br />

<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OxFDfZ35c-s/TxOQlMp3tkI/AAAAAAAADM0/a1MAhUx3d0g/s1600/Project+365+Week+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OxFDfZ35c-s/TxOQlMp3tkI/AAAAAAAADM0/a1MAhUx3d0g/s640/Project+365+Week+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Week 2 of 2012</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I decided that I would try to do <a href="http://365project.org/" target="_blank">Project 365</a> this year. I have been sporadic about taking photos, kind of a feast or famine thing. I'm hoping that my picture quality will improve. But more important to record our daily life, as it is. So when we look back, we can see what our life looked like. Very real. Not perfect.<br />
<br />
I haven't gotten Week 1 compiled yet. I made the mistake of using 3 different cameras.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3Uxt5fm6p-Y/TxOQW5b8hsI/AAAAAAAADMs/gl8Oq6GyxMA/s1600/iphone_4_s.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3Uxt5fm6p-Y/TxOQW5b8hsI/AAAAAAAADMs/gl8Oq6GyxMA/s320/iphone_4_s.jpg" width="214" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">iPhone 4s</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So thought I would share the end of Week 2. It's really hard to narrow down your photos to just ONE per day! Some days I would have several and then other (lots of other) days, I would have one. <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AuvbS09_3C0/TxOQUR4-GNI/AAAAAAAADMc/iaPK1qekqVc/s1600/Canon-PowerShot-SD1300IS_pink1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AuvbS09_3C0/TxOQUR4-GNI/AAAAAAAADMc/iaPK1qekqVc/s320/Canon-PowerShot-SD1300IS_pink1.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Canon sd1300is</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Week 2 had me finishing up a big tournament that my hubby holds and I have to feed staff/coaches and I had just a small plate of brownies left over. It has become synonymous with the tournament. Tournament = lots of fudge brownies. :) Picture 1<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8-KiU8Zf714/TxOQVlQnl2I/AAAAAAAADMk/LJ2fc_3DYJ4/s1600/d90.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8-KiU8Zf714/TxOQVlQnl2I/AAAAAAAADMk/LJ2fc_3DYJ4/s320/d90.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Nikon d90</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Then I headed to my daughter's to watch the 3 youngest grandkids for 9 days while they all traveled to Europe. My Mom came up to help so it's been fun! Pictures 2,3,4,5<br />
<br />
By Saturday night, we were a bit whipped. Mom went to bed at the same time the kids did, and I was too pooped to do anything but cruise through Pinterest. Picture 6<br />
<br />
Sunday was a beautiful sunny, yet cold day. God's Frosty Beauty...as seen on the way to church. Picture 7<br />
<br />
<br />
I did get to cut some kits out at night, after the kiddos went to bed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uvVQQu6raj8/TxOYkhWlUjI/AAAAAAAADM8/5Uy5_911qic/s1600/IMG_2725.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uvVQQu6raj8/TxOYkhWlUjI/AAAAAAAADM8/5Uy5_911qic/s320/IMG_2725.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
But no sewing. That's okay, I didn't need help from a 20 month old! I'm headed to SC for a month after this week--I'll need it! Haha. No, they were good..just anxious to get to a bit warmer weather for a while. So I thought I would cut kits to take down with me to make samples for my Spring classes. <br />

I've been seeing these photo collages around blogland and thought what a great idea to recap my year. I ended up with 18 finished quilts, 18 ANGRY birds, 3 tote bags and 8 pillows. Not bad considering I was gone 100+ days last year! I didn't realize I had been gone so much until I started adding up the days! I also made a book of my finishes. I hope to start doing that to have record of how I spent my time. </div>

Row 2: Split Daisy, Scrappy Fall, Poppy Baskets, Picture Perfect, Beckam T Shirt Quilt<br />
Row 3: Scrappy Trip Around the World, Buttons and Bows, Scrappy TOW, Hexagons, Railing Beauty<br />
Row 4: Circling Tweets, Second Helpings, Angry Birds, 16 Patch and Pinwheel, Dresden Plate Topper<br />
Row 5: Ticker Tape Pillow, Apple Core Pillow, Figgy Tree, Tote 1, Tote 2 (Tote 3 not shown)<br />
Row 6: Cathedral Window Pillow, Twister Pillow, Dresden Wheel Pillow, Hexies Pillow and Tumbler Pillow.<br />
<br />
Lots of finishes, but I hope this year brings more quilt finishes! <br />

*sigh*</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have a fabric closet that rivals a small quilt shop. I do NOT need fabric. In fact, after tracking my stash for a year through <a href="http://patchworktimes.com/" target="_blank">Judy L's </a>Stash Challenge, I realized that I don't need to buy any fabric. Ever. Again. But of course, I do and will, but not at the speed and tenacity that I used to <strike>accumulate </strike>it. I mean, collect it. :)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And I have done very well these last 3 years. I've purchased fabric, but not very much. And this year I could count on 2 hands the amount of yardage purchased by me. Until...</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I stumbled on Lori Holt's blog,<a href="http://beeinmybonnetco.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"> Bee in my Bonnet</a>. And saw her latest line of fabric, Daisy Cottage. And I fell.in.love. As in, I want the whole line! I love her patterns. It kind of shook me up because I haven't felt that way about fabric for a while, to the point of wondering what was wrong with me! hahaha </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Never fear. I'm fine. I did show patience by asking for it for my birthday instead of rushing out and buying it. By the way, the grays are showing up a bit on the brown side. Sorry--was kind of a yucky day outside and was hard to get a good picture. But it is gray, pink, and gold mostly. </div>

this is my '<a href="http://aliedwards.com/2011/12/one-little-word-2012.html#more-17606" target="_blank">one little word</a>' this year. Do you do that? I started a few years ago....in 2010 it was JOY (as in I choose JOY), 2011 brought FOCUS ( and I didn't do so well!! LOL) and thought I would do it again. I really don't like to make resolutions, but instead have a word to help focus my intention of the direction I want to head in my life.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #274e13;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">Nourish.</span> </span></div>
<br />
My <b>mind</b>--reading more. My <b>body-</b>-overall health. My<b> soul</b>--continuing growing closer to God. <b>Family</b>--being a positive influence in my family, especially the grankids lives. <b>Community</b>--giving back to others. <b>Imagination</b>--getting the creative juices flowing again (how do you like the little logo I created above?)<br />
<br />
Another thing I would like to do is participate in the<a href="http://content.photojojo.com/tutorials/project-365-take-a-photo-a-day/" target="_blank"> Project 365</a>...taking a picture a day. I'm a little worried about that one...it all sounds so good, but come March, will I fade away? I really wish I could stick to something...anything...more than a few months. I get so distracted, unmotivated, forgetful or whatever you call my lack of stick-to-it-ness(is that a word?) that I never finish out the year. <br />
<br />
Why is it that a New Year feels like you get to start over fresh? Something about a new year that wants you to be able to start that new diet, renew your gym membership, start that Read the Bible in a year program, or any other self improvement project. <br />
<br />
Whatever the reason, I'm hoping that announcing it publicly will keep more on track..for my sake. I know you all have your own issues! LOL So..wish me luck!<br />
<br />
This is Day ONE of the new year and yes, I did take my photo. I don't think I'll post them everyday, maybe in 1 week batches. In keeping with my new word of the year, I need to start NOURISHing my body and the first thing is getting more rest! So took a photo of my bed! Hubby made a comment about how much better I looked while on vacation..no bags under the eyes because I was getting more sleep. Guess I should get off the computer earlier. I hate to admit it, but surfing' the net keeps me up in the later hours of the evening.<br />
<br />
Nourishing my creativity will hopefully get me back into a more regular schedule of quilting. I went more days than not last year of sewing and it was almost always for something other than for me. Not that I don't like creating for others, but nurturing my own creative urges makes me happy.<br />
<br />
And in all this, I hope to be a bit better blogger. I miss it. <br />
<br />
Here's to a BRAND NEW YEAR!<br />

<br />
What a blur this last month was! We took a little R&R trip and I really thought I would be able to do some sewing! What was I thinking? LOL We had gorgeous weather, unlike last year's trip, so we spent all of our time outside. Met a cute little friend..who really wanted to share our lunch...we obliged. We watched him a day earlier jump on a woman, trying to get food and scratched her. Scared the crap out of me, I screamed and it wasn't even me! So when we saw him stalking the pool area the next day, we just got up, warned the others and let him help himself!<br />

I had a FQ bundle of Moda's Quilt Pink "Love", which I used and then created 5 kits with the leftovers.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is the pattern pack that I used and I plan on having a class once a month. We are starting with February, so hopefully the wallhangings will be done in time for the actual month, rather than being behind. What a novel idea! I bought my pattern at a LQS, but found them at JoAnn's now! Yeah, with a coupon. Sheesh.<br />

This little guy is such a cutie...it's a pattern by <a href="http://www.thewoodenbear.com/shop/Whats-New/Patterns/Winter--Christmas/p/031-Hanging-Snowman-sku-TWB031.htm" target="_blank">The Wooden Bear</a>, and I'll admit, I used my friend's idea. She made hers with a sports team fabric. Since Ohio State University does not have licensed fabric, I bought a T-shirt and used that! And embroidered Ohio State on the hat brim. I should have curved it a bit, but oh well. Eyes still need attached and all the blanket stitching needs done.<br />

<br />
Row by Row commitments...oops, forgot to take pics. But then again..when you are working right up to the deadline MINUTE....it's hard to remember to take a photo.<br />
<br />
Then the excitement on the home front with hubby coming home from a 3 week trip from France/Russia/China and got shingles the next day. Whoa! I heard they were painful, but seeing it firsthand is something else. My sympathies go out to all those who are suffering or have suffered from it.<br />
<br />
And as always, things are always changing with our youngest daughter.(she's in the top photo) She is now 30 and we are trying to decide if she is starting to suffer from early onset dementia. Unfortunately, a common affliction for adults with Down's Syndrome. :( She wandered off from her new day care place last week, a police found her on the side of the road, repeating that she is a client. God sent an angel in the form of a friend who happened to drive by at that time and helped the poor bewildered cop out who wasn't sure what to do with her! We were all way more scared than she was. She said she was just walking. Obviously more secure measures need to taken with her. This is the third time in a month she has done this (from different places). Oh the adventures she brings into our life! Thanking God for blessings this week.<br />
