Just chillin'

Nancy--does this look familiar? We did this as an Internet exchange in 2001 or so. We each did a block or blocks for each other in each row and each row had some meaning related to quilting and the internet. There were 2 groups going and our group chose to use batiks.
So that's the news from me! :) It's hard to report anything when you are just sitting around relaxing and reading. I did start working about an hour a day on my reversible quilt, so not much to show on that quilt.
My back was doing great until a few days ago when floating in the lazy river, a bunch of kids swam under us and one of them kicked me right on my nerve. I shot out of the inner tube like a cannon. The pain was excrutiating and I lost control of my leg for a bit. Of course the kid didn't stop or even look back. In the meantime, I hobble out of the lazy river, trying not to cry. It definitely was a set back, but I'm doing better. My husband talked to my doctor and I'm going to do one more epidural shot when I return home next week. I was hoping all this lazing around would help me avoid that! Oh well...if it helps. The first one did help a lot. I'm just waiting for 100% recovery. I'm not complaining much--there are so many others that suffer much more than I am and I just don't know how they do it. So for those of you who suffer daily from whatever ailment..my prayers and sympathies go out to you! I WILL be better!

LOL! Not only does it look familiar but I dug mine out this past weekend and it now resides on the back of my table patiently waiting it's turn to be completed. I discovered I've already sewn most of the rows together so it really won't take me long to complete this top. So as soon as I finish the one I'm piecing now this one is up next. Thanks for sharing yours.

I hope your back gets better soon. I have back problems so believe me I know what you're going thru!

I remember this pattern! I dutifully had all the patterns off the net, then thought I wouldn't finish it let alone start it so threw them all away. Wish I'd kept them now - your quilt looks fabulous!

What a disappointing set-back with your back. Keep resting and I hope it feels better soon.

Your finished row quilt is very lovely. Nice to have something done to enjoy when you just don't feel like working on anything new! And why not - isn't that why we are busy making stuff so much of the time? This one is well worth enjoying!

Cheers!

That is a beautiful quilt. I'm sure it brings back wonderful memories of your group. I do hope your back recovers again quickly.

I was in a hit and run car accident and it took me about a year to recover from the whiplash. The pain subsided over time, but it would still remind me from time to time. Luckily, I never got kicked!

sounds like that lazing in the river didn't go quite as planned.. :(

Very nice top! I wonder if Nancy's looks like yours a bit--like if each quilter stuck with the same colors for all the blocks made or were they made with that person in mind and their color preferences beyond batiks.

Sorry to hear about the setback with your back. Kids think, often, that they are the only people in the universe. I doubt it was deliberate but still...would it kill you to say you were sorry?

What a nice exchange quilt. The batiks give it such sparkle.

With your positive attitude, you should heal quickly. I agree that those who suffer on a daily basis need our sympathy and prayers.

I have one of those!! Well actually, I don't have it anymore as I gave it to my DD...it doesn't look like yours for 2 reasons, I was in the Thimbleberries group and I didn't get all the blocks back but it looks good anyway!

Ohhh, sorry to hear about the kid kicking your back... and you were being so good, relaxing it.

I love the colors in your batik quilt!

Hope your back gets much better very quickly. During my first pregnancy, I had such bad sciatica that I had to go on bed rest, and I remember crying with relief after I delivered- the pain was gone, but I had worried it would never go away... I hope yours can go away completely!

The blocks in that quilt look like they were a lot of fun to make..*VBS* It'll be neat to see Nancy's when she begins working on it, next on her list.
