A little behind..

I wish my behind were little--LOL. I meant that I was a little behind on my Sept. One Hour Challenge, but the top is now done AND I have the backing all pieced and ready to load onto Zoe, my HQ16. I'm just trying to decide how to quilt it. How did everyone else do theirs? The biggest joy is that I now have an EMPTY space on my shelf where all my darker homespun plaids used to be! This is the last of those plaids! I do have another plaid quilt or two in progress, but I am done with these. I gave the last bits of it after I pieced the backing (2 1-gallon ziploc bags worth) to a student who is just beginning and envies my stash. I don't believe I've ever had an empty spot before! What a great feeling. If I keep plugging away at my stash, it will get reduced to a managable level. I think you need a certain amount to have the variety to choose from, but mine was over the top.
Here is a close up of Frosty Flakes-which I've been plugging away on since August. It was a pattern of Joni Pikes that I had seen in Houston last year, and being a snowman lover, I had to have it. It takes a while to do (all the good ones do, don't they?) and 117 buttons later, I'm done! Binding, label and all.
I also made a purse ( I taught a class on a Lazy Girl purse Thursday) and I always like to have little demos along the way to show the process, it's easier for the visual learners. I end up with lots of purses, oh darn! :) And then I made a slouchy purse from some tea-stained home dec fabric my cousin sent to me. I'll take pictures and post them later. That means 3 off of my Oct. list, now to just figure out how to cross the lines through the finished ones. I finally figured out how to get the list there to start with after a few hours of browsing and reading. I'm trying to keep up! :)

Hi Karen, it's ok to be little behind or even a lot behind..LOL. The finished top looks wonderful...the colors are so mellow and friendly. Like an invitation to snuggle.

And what great snowmen!!! It's a lot of buttons, I defintely agree, but they look sooooo great! It will bring smiles for years and years. Hugs, Finn

I just love that snowman quilt!! It looks super. The hour-a-day quilt looks great, too. Not sure how I'd quilt it, though. I haven't joined in one yet, but hope to another month in the future.

Love your snowman quilt. I searched for Joni Pike at google and came up with her patterns. As a catlover I love her Catnip pattern :)

Your Lincoln's Platform quilt turned out great! Nice assortment of colors and fabrics.

Marcie is right--your Lincoln's Platform looks terrific. They all came out so varied with the differences in fabrics. Stashbuster too? Even better.

The snowmen are adorable---was that possibly in one of the quilting publications too? I best go look when I saw the catnip comment,

Those snowmen are gorgeous. Reminds me of The Snowman by Raymond Briggs (the song "Walking in the Air".)

What do you use for fusible? I want to make Joni's cat pattern but I want to use green for the cats. It's kind of a joke with my dad about green cats.

I'm going to snag your Quilt for an Hour quilt picture for my webshots page, ok?

I did a panto on my quilt.

Oh wow you used all homespuns in your Quilt for an Hour top? They are so pretty and all go together so nicely!

I think the scrappy boarders gives it the perfect touch!!! Do you plan to do a scrappy binding also? Beautiful Quilt!

I'd love to have a little behind to - ah well. The September top looks great! Way to go with the scrap reduction too.

LOVE your snowmen quilt!! They are just adorable!!! And your Sept. HAD quilt is great....I have a thing for plaids and homespuns....wonderful!

Oh my, am I really so far behind that I missed seeing your HAD quilt? It is so beautiful. I love the pieced plaid border. The cute snowmen is adorable too, especially with the buttons, and the large variety of blues you used.

Wow! Well, I like your 1 hour challenge quilt, BUT my Little Boy would adore the snowman top!!! Sooo cute! OK - quick, quick now - put a framed photo in that empty spot. When ever I have an empty spot in a funny closet space, I like to put a framed photo as a "space saver". Plus, it always brings me a bit of happiness to open - say the linen closet - and have a special framed photo on a shelf! Hooray for sharing your scraps - I've made some of my very favorite quilts from scraps that others gave to me when I was starting out with quilting!

Cheers!

Evelyn

Love your shoo fly quilt, especially the way you have bordered each block with squares and then set them. Great idea :)

I love your Frosty's quilt. I bought the pattern and fabrics a few years ago and they're still in a box on my shelf. Maybe that will be one of my projects to finish this year.

Congratulations on finishing it!
