Churn Dashes from the past

This is another one of the block swaps I did with a group that Nancy was also in. If I remember, some people had problems with points in this one too. I wasn't sure what to do with them, as I really wanted to use them in a quilt because these people were my friends. Then I saw this idea where someone appliqued over blocks. I found this cat fabric and knew exactly how I would handle bad points, things not matching quite right. It's funny, because I am not a cat lover (don't get me wrong--I don't have a choice--allergies) but I couldn't pass it up. And now people don't even look at the blocks! :) And I have a quilt with fond memories of my cyber friends.

I LOVE THIS QUILT! It might not surprise you to know I even have that cat fabric. :-) I love the way it looks like some of the cats are on "top" of the blocks and others are "behind". Mine looks sooooo plain in comparison. But it keeps me warm at night as it's the one I sleep under most of the time.

I like how you took something that was a problem for you and made it work. The quilt is more unique for your creativeness in solving a problem.

Talk about making lemonade out of lemons! The kitties looks so cute on there--like you planned it all along. So with the allergies, this is one spot where you can enjoy the little furr babies!

hee hee, the same thing happened to me with a bunch of swapped basket blocks. I appliqued butterflies on the "not-so-pointy points" LOL. I love the churndash block and your kitties look great on it :-)

what a creative solution to a common swapping block problem-this may be the answer I have needed for some swap blocks I have not known what to do about! thanks!

I LOVE the way you added those kitties to that quilt! What a great way to fix that "problem." I am a pointless quiter; hence, the quotes around problem.

Oh, this is a really GREAT idea! I would have never thought of cutting out a novelty for applique - and there are so many fun novelties out there! I might just have to make something like this - on purpose! I love how it came out - so cute.

And I see a hidden funny - Hole in the Barn Door blocks and barn kitties!

Cheers!
