Thanks for all your prayers. He definitely has a fractured pelvis, meaning no walking for 4 weeks or so. They found another fracture in his clavicle (??) one by the neck and the other on his shoulder and a fractured wrist. Still not sure what they are going to do. The dr. originally thought that a special platform walker that allowed him to use his elbow to displace his foot weight might work, but now with that second fracture, he isn't sure anymore. Physical therapy is coming in tomorrow to work with him in moving around. We tried twice today to get him off the bed and the most we could get was both feet hanging over the side. That makes hubby worried. It is definitely going to cramp his style. The dr. could already tell that he is one to push the limits. But he told him, NO JOKING-he had to follow his orders or create a bigger problem than he could imagine. And he is backing down his meds--dr. wants him to feel when it hurts to do too much, so he won't push it. Smart man!
Again, we just thank God for his mercy. I shudder to think what could happen. Maybe now he'll stay off the roof, and doing things that aren't quite so smart. Why do guys think they are invincible?

Your DH and YOU are in my prayers. What an awful accident. Just keep reminding him that he has to heal first before we can do a whole bunch. ((HUGS))
Karen: Thanks to this blog we are informed about Kirt. Tell him our best wishes. Indeed his personality is not the easiest to recover. Although a lot of pain will help to sit and be very quiet.....
Jaap once broke a few ribs and was indeed very quiet for a longer period than I ever thought.
All the best, TED
here's to quick healing for your dh...
hugs

So sorry to hear about the accident. Glad they've identified all the breaks so they can get healing! Prayers are heading your way!
Well, it is a good news/bad news post - very lucky that someone was there to see it all happen and immediately get help. But, I am so sorry to hear of your DH's injuries and am wishing him a speedy recovery. What a very stressful experience for both of you. I bet you are giving him extra hugs today.
Cheers!
Evelyn
tough injuries to recover from - here -lots of healing energy coming his way! What a sharp doctor he has..thanks for letting us know. big hugs
Karen, so sorry to hear about your husband's accident. I'm sure his recovery will take much longer than he'll want it to take.
My brother had a similar experience when helping a neighbor by trimming a tree. He fell off the ladder and shattered his ankle so bad that it's never been the same. He had multiple surgeries and at one point even a year or so after the accident they thought they'd have to amputate the leg. He'll never have full use of it and still has considerable pain.
Since then I haven't let my husband do anything around the house that requires him to be on the roof or a tall ladder. We just pay someone if we need something done.
This comment sounds terrible but your question about why guys think they are invincible really hit home with me.
Karen...owieeee, I ache just thinking about this...prayerfully he will heal quickly and rest as he should.
What a terrible accident. I'm glad they found all the fractures and that he can begin the healing process. Prayers to you both. ((()))
Oh my - at least now you know what all of you have to deal with. I'm just so very glad the news wasnt' worse. He is very luckily to be alive!
